In addition to the music which accompanies the regular Services of Worship, the Church aims to host a series of Organ Recitals, Solo Recitals and Concerts in the building throughout the year. The Isle of Mull acts host to many thousands of visitors each year, and to make their visit a little more memorable and complete, the Church offers a wide invitation to everyone to come and join us for any or all of these. A diary of these can be found by clicking onto the link Concerts. In 2005, to complete the total restoration of the building and to mark the Centenary of the present building, the Church commissioned a fine new digital organ. This magnificent three manual instrument was commissioned from Phoenix Organs, the console and new casework was commissioned from Renatus, Bideford, Devon. The console and casework have been designed to follow the style and pattern of the Church furniture, and follows the spirit of the Arts and Crafts Movement. It is constructed in light, polished oak. The case, which is mounted up on the west wall, is fronted by non-speaking organ pipes of bright tin. The full specification of the instrument is printed below for those interested, but suffice it to say that this was drawn up in order to perform the widest range of styles and repertoire of music, both for regular Liturgical and Concert use. Details of the organ may be found by clicking here. |
